Motorola is demonstrating a rollable mobile phone in a quick video demo at parent company Lenovo’s Tech World 2022 event. The screen extends and retracts with the press of a button, accompanied by a moving wallpaper.

The demo video only shows the device’s front, and the screen appears to wrap around the phone, rolling up from the bottom edge.
This concept appears to be on the “operational” side of the spectrum, at least as far as prototypes go — there are at least battery and cellular indicator icons on screen.
The rolling display is a flexible OLED panel that extends to 6.5 inches and retracts to “just over” 4 inches.
Motorola is not providing any additional information at this time. It’s unclear whether it’ll ever see the light of day, and flexible concepts aren’t exactly hitting a thousand right now.
TCL has been teasing flexible products for years without producing a viable commercial product to show for it. LG’s rollable concept was the closest to market, but… well, you know how that turned out.
To be honest, we’d be content with Motorola’s China-only folding 2022 Razr — one can hope, right?
