Acer has unveiled a new lightweight laptop aimed at on-the-go professionals in a world where an increasing number of people prefer to work from home or away from the office.
The Acer Swift Edge is a 16-inch OLED laptop with a magnesium-aluminum chassis that is 0.51 inch thin and weighs only 2.58 pounds. That’s less than the 2.73-pound weight of the 13.6-inch M2 MacBook Air or the 2.62-pound weight of the 16-inch LG Gram.

It has a 4K OLED display with a refresh rate of 60Hz and a narrow bezel that gives it a 92 percent screen-to-body ratio. The model is powered by AMD Ryzen 6000 and Pro 6000 processors, which include integrated RDNA2 graphics and allow users to play modern 1080p games.
It also has 16GB of LPDDR5 memory that can be upgraded to 32GB and either 512GB or 1TB of SSD storage. According to the company’s video playback tests, the device’s 54 Wh 3-cell battery can last up to 10.5 hours and up to 8.5 hours according to its web browsing test results.
Other highlights include an FHD (1,920 x 1,080) webcam and support for Microsoft’s Pluton security processor architecture, which adds extra security to Windows 11 PCs. The laptop also has a fingerprint reader and a Noble Wedge Lock slot.
Acer’s first Swift Edge laptop will be available in North America this month, with prices starting at $1,500. Prices start at €1,499 in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, and RMB 7,999 in China.
