Lockheed Martin and Voyager have found a partner to design astronaut facilities for their space station. According to CNBC, Hilton will create suites and sleeping quarters for Starlab.
Under the terms of the agreement, Hilton and Voyager will also investigate marketing opportunities related to Starlab and trips to what could be the first space hotel.
NASA has awarded contracts to four private companies to build private space stations ahead of the International Space Station’s planned decommissioning at the end of the decade.
Space stations are also being developed by Axiom Space, Blue Origin, and Northrop Grumman. The largest contract, valued at $160 million, was awarded to Voyager’s operating company, Nanoracks.
Voyager and Lockheed Martin hope to launch the first Starlab by 2027. I’m curious how many Hilton Honors points a trip there will cost.
