After teasing the feature last month, WhatsApp has announced that it has begun rolling out emoji reactions to all users worldwide. You’ll be able to respond with one of six emojis in the coming days.
Thumbs Up 👍, Red Heart ❤️, Face with Tears of Joy 😂, Face with Open Mouth 😮, Crying Face 😢, and Folded Hands 🙏. The messaging app also added two new features: 2GB file sharing and a limit of 512 group members.
In addition to message reactions, WhatsApp will now allow you to send files up to 2GB in size, a 20-fold increase from the previous 100MB limit. This appears to be intended to support video files in particular.
“And we believe [it] will be useful for collaboration among small businesses and school groups,” according to the company. It also added the ability to create group chats with up to 512 participants, which doubled the previous limit.
The features will be available over the next week on iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows, so you may not see them right away. That should only be the beginning, as WhatsApp has previously stated that it plans to support reactions with all emoji and skin tones in the future.
