Many companies have already made some sort of foray into the metaverse, and today another big name joins them. Spotify has announced that it will enter virtual worlds through a Roblox interactive space called Spotify Island.
The environment where it happens is a place where users can create music, relax in virtual venues, and gain access to exclusive virtual merchandise — and it’s available today.

Spotify’s Roblox island has a design that is true to its brand: lots of green with shapes, colors, and icons from its apps. All of this is also part of the game. You can, for example, collect the heart-shaped “Like” icons to get free merch.
In terms of digital goods, Spotify claims that the exclusive in-game virtual merchandise will allow artists to connect with fans while also providing a means for them to earn money.
The company explains that a percentage of sales will go to the artists, but it does not specify how much. It did, however, state that it has already worked with some acts to create a collection of items that “truly reflects who they are.”
The main goals of Spotify Island are to interact with artists, complete quests, and gain access to “exclusive content.” According to the company, it has stuffed the virtual world with Easter eggs for users to find along the way.
You can also make your own music and sounds using beat-maker stations powered by Soundtrap, the online recording platform Spotify purchased in 2017.

Spotify claims that its first “themed experience” will be available in a few weeks. Users will be able to interact with artists Stray Kids and SUNMI through K-Park, a nod to K-Pop.
As the metaverse as a concept is still in its early stages, this is almost certainly the first of many hangouts. You don’t even have to wait until K-Park starts buying things. SUNMI merchandise will be available today, with Stray Kids merchandise to follow shortly.
