Tesla has launched the world’s largest Supercharger station in China, the auto-builder has announced on Wiebo. The 72-stall facility in Shanghai bests the 56 stall station the company opened last month in Fresno county, California, according to Electrek.

Another major difference in both stations is that the California station is outdoor while the Shanghai Superchargers appears to be covered, according to images shared on Twitter by a user: @JayinShanghai.

The new station is located at Jing’an International Center in a key central business and commercial district of Shanghai. According to @JayinShanghai who shared the post, all 72 stalls use V2 Superchargers that produce up to 150 kW, while the 56 California stalls use 250 kW V3 chargers.
What that means is that the Shanghai drivers will have to wait a bit longer for a charge compared to US drivers… only Model 3 and Y EVs support V3 charging.

Tesla supplied more than 20,000 locally manufactured Model 3 EVs to China, making it a major market for the company. It also manufactured 23,000 EVs at its Gigafactory 3 in Shanghai in November. Some of the EVs built at the plant are sold in China while others are exported to Europe and other countries.
